The cumbersome distinction between knowledge and understanding gets lost in sentiment. Reasonings become convoluted in misinformation. Should the values we encompass align with knowledge or understanding?

Perhaps the more important question to ask ourselves is by whose standards are we making that judgment? To understand oneself one must first know who they are. The easiest path to knowing ourselves is to first know who we are not. That roadmap begins with the values instilled into us as an adolescent.

The surroundings we were enthralled in cultivated our earliest blueprint for life. We embodied those lessons and trusted that they were of honest value. As we progressed through the years, we quickly discovered who we were not, directing us to question who we were. The travesty in this part of the journey is that we often lose who we were not whilst navigating who we are. The knowledge is knowing why this transaction happens. The understanding of why it happens is where we find the value.
